Four-team Tournament at Keymer & Hassocks - 13th August 2006
Despite fears that the event would have to be called off due to the heavy rain early on, Henfield's first match against Portslade eventually got off only shortly after the scheduled start time. This turned out to be a relatively comfortable affair for the boys who, batting first, reached 270, in reply to which Portslade mustered 243. Unfortunately, in the next match the scores were almost exactly reversed with Henfield, again batting first, reaching only 243 whilst St Andrews notched up 273.
Henfield's last match, against Keymer & Hassocks, was a decider between the two for second and third place and, with K&H having beaten Henfield quite convincingly in the league just weeks earlier, the odds seemed stacked in Keymer's favour. For the third match in a row Henfield won the toss and batted first, reaching 259, a total which meant that the match was still delicately poised and could go either way. That feeling continued throughout the Keymer innings and it was only in the last couple of overs with some really tight fielding from Henfield that the match went our way.
Meanwhile, the other final round match between St Andrews, who had won their first two matches, and Portslade, who had lost both of theirs, amazingly went down to the last ball with St Andrews ultimately just sneaking it at the end to make it three in row. All this meant that the final table looked as follows:

The Henfield boys played really well as a team throughout, showing some of their best form of the season, but the pick of the batsmen were George Cox with a total of 42 and Freddie Newmarch with 26. The best bowling figures were returned by Will Frost with 5-0-12-4 and Conor Cooper with 3-0-1-3
This was great day of cricket played in a superb spirit and thoroughly enjoyed by everybody. Thanks must go to Keymer and Hassocks for their superb organisation and welcoming hospitality.
