Deeply saddened to hear of Mark's sudden and unexpected death.
The family will be very much in our thoughts in the coming weeks. Just to assure them of our prayers in our local churches. Every blessing, and may God's peace be on Mark, and on the family members left behind, today and always.

Mark was one of the first people I met when I arrived at Henfield all those years ago. He is one of the people I remember most fondly from my 3 years as a player. I admired him in so many ways. He was a role model on the field, a fiercely competitive and proud sportsman who gave nothing but his best every single time whilst always upholding the spirit of our great game. He was a role model as a father, much loved by his wife and three wonderful children all of whom were so well brought up. His sudden passing is a reminder to us all of the fragility of life and the importance of sharing our time with our loved ones. Smithy and I used to talk about all aspects of life; growing up, having a family, work life etc, he often passed on words of wisdom which I still recall and are still valuable all these years later. Thanks for the memories Smithy. All of them good, so many laughs, so much banter. The news of your passing was a crushing blow which I am still struggling to come to terms with. You made an impact on my life and I will never forget you. To Audrey, Nic, Ant and Lindsay my wife and I send our deepest sympathy to you all. |

Terrible news about Smithy. For me he epitomised all that is good about local village cricket in Sussex. He played hard but fair on the field, he had the club at heart, and he enjoyed the social side of the game with team mates and opposition alike. A sad loss to all who came into contact with him. |

Everyone at Lewes Priory was very shocked to hear the sad news from Henfield on saturday. I would be most grateful if you would pass on our condolences to Mark's family and friends. Only one week ago one of our young players had to be brought back to life as a result of being hit below the heart during a match at Bexhill. No doubt Henfield will be organising some events in memory of Mark and I would be grateful if you would keep us all informed. We look forward to seeing you in September. Regards Nigel
