HCC 250th Anniversary Cricket Matches

With Covid restrictions now lifted, Henfield Cricket Club has an exciting few weeks of cricket coming up to celebrate our 250th Anniversary On Thursday 29th July we host our Annual fixture against Kenya Kongonis, starting at 1pm From Monday 2nd August we have a whole week of fixtures; Monday 2nd - Womens 1st XI Vs. MCC Women Tuesday 3rd - U14s Festival Game Wednesday 4th - Mens 1st XI Vs. Acton Thursday 5th - Vets XI Vs. Sussex Over 60s Friday 6th - U14s Festival Game Finally, on Sunday 29th August we host the MCC for our marquee fixture of the season. This day is a celebration not just for the cricket club but for the whole of Henfield village. COVID-19 Further Update: Nets at HCC

Following news from the government that groups of up to 6 people may meet outside whilst maintaining social distancing, the ECB have confirmed the same guidance now applies to outdoor net facilities. We have therefore updated our booking policy to allow for groups of up to 6 players to train together in one session. There have been no other amendments to the conditions and all previous rules must still be adhered to ...

As previously communicated, our nets are being set up to be ready to use from this Saturday 23rd for club members only and only by prior booking, as per current ECB guidelines Use of the nets is subject to the attached conditions which must be agreed to before your booking will be confirmed. If it is found that these conditions are not being meant we may have to remove access again so please read them through. RIP John Duncan

Dear Members, It is with deepest regret that I have to report the death of our former player John Duncan through the coronavirus. During the late 40’s and 50’s John lived in the white house opposite the ground, (where John White now lives,) he played for the club in the 1950 mainly as a second eleven player, then while working for Radio Brighton in 1971 he recorded a piece on Henfield’s bi-centenary which we have in our archives. Over the last few years he had renewed his affiliation with the club, giving generously as a supporter. The one story that John liked to tell, and I can confirm as true, that on a fine hot sunny August Sunday afternoon in the 50’s Trevor Alcock batting for Henfield hit a ball over the road and over the hedge and straight through John’s open front door, straight down the hall and into the kitchen sink, just as Mrs Duncan was cleaning up, she took...
